Trainer and keynote speaker, Susan J. Atkinson,
Ph.D. works with individuals, small
businesses, and self employed professionals to promote increased professional
and personal effectiveness. She empowers
her clients to achieve tangible results as well as greater life satisfaction
and greater resilience in a changing world.
Susan is a licensed psychologist with
over 25 years in the human services field and has operated her own business for
the past 20 years. She obtained a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the
University of Pittsburgh in 1982 and received Coaches training through the
Institute for Life Coaching Training.
She has specialized training in Peak Performance coaching through EMDRIA
(EMDR International Association).
She is a member of the International
Coach Federation (IFC), a founding member of
International Association of Coaches (IAC), a founding member and
officer for the Greater Pittsburgh Coaches Association, and the secretary for
the executive board of the Pittsburgh chapter of the National Association
of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). Additionally, she maintains memberships in
the American Psychological Association, the Pennsylvania Psychological
Association and the Greater Pittsburgh Psychological Association. Susan is recognized by the National Registry
of Who's Who of American Women.
In addition to her professional life, Susan has been
a lifelong athlete having trained in Shotokan Karate for 15 years, and holds
the rank of Nidan. When an injury made
it impossible for her to continue actively training, she found herself in her
own mid-life redefinition process. She
drew from the philosophy and mentality she learned in Shotokan and views this
as a paradigm for her life. She brings
this training, experience, spirit and commitment to her coaching.
